Greetings from Cordoba! The first quarter of 1995 has been a blend of rest and intense work. The missionary retreat in Chile was a refreshing time to be restored in our relationship with the Lord. We really needed that week of relaxation and restoration to prepare for the heavy workload of the School of Missions, preparing the Bible School campus for the next trimestre and launching a church planting crusade in Bell Ville, a town three hours south of Cordoba.
In January we provided a program each night for the Argentine missionary kids while their parents met in the chapel. It was fun to be with these little missionaries that represent the first fruits of international outreach from the Argentine Church. We are truly witnessing a marvelous awakening in South America.
In February we began clearing trees and brush to make way for a fence around the 10 acre Bible school property. We also hired a bulldozer to do the heavy landscaping that will prepare the grounds for needed construction projects such as dormitories and classrooms. Several students from the Province of Tucuman came to help in the task. With their help we hope to have the fence up in about another month. We'll send you a picture of the 'new' Bible School in our next newsletter.
Funds from Good News Crusades and other sources were used to purchase a new Gospel tent which arrived in Cordoba March 3. Within 24 hours the new tent was in place in Bell Ville. The first service was held Sunday night, March 4. Four people received salvation the first night! We will continue the effort in Bell Ville throughout the year by taking groups of students from the Bible School to help do evangelism on the weekends. The pastor, Jorge Aldazoro, is a recent graduate of the Bible School. He and the congregation in Bell Ville are very grateful to have the new tent to meet in while the church is being built on the same property.
We are very happy to have new missionaries working with us in Cordoba. The Boyd Brooks family from California arrived in January. Boyd is serving as the new director of the Bible School. He has served in Argentina before, planting churches in the North. His excellent zeal for evangelism will bear much fruit in the harvest that continues to sweep Argentina.
Pray for the students as they arrive for the new trimester.
