Home Sweet Home
I made it home after almost being deported. My car was broken into a week before I left and all the last minute packing added up to a fairly stressful departure. Thank the Lord for faithful friends who helped me pack and get my life in order before leaving. I went directly to Springfield, MO for the annual School of Missions. It was a refreshing time of spiritual renewal, seeing old friends, and meeting lots of new people. I was anxious to get home in time to celebrate the birth of my new nephew Derek Kenneth Carlyon. My home base will be at my Mom's house. I am very thankful to be able to spend time with my family and friends, and to play my favorite role which is Aunt Bonnie to my three nieces and two nephews.
Thank You
As I tearfully said good-bye to a place I have called home for the last four and a half years; I did so with a very grateful heart. I am so thankful to the Lord for allowing me to serve Him in Costa Rica. I want to thank each of you who have had a part in my ministry. I know that without your partnership I would not have made it! Thank you.
What am I doing now?
Currently I am traveling throughout Southern California sharing about what the Lord has been doing over the past two years, and sharing my dreams and goals for Nicaragua. I am also trying to raise up a team of financial and prayer supporters. I am available to share with church congregations, women's ministry groups, children's church congregations, missionettes, etc. If you would be interested in my coming to your church, please contact me at bcarlyon@aol.com.
I need you!
I am asking you to prayerfully consider being a part of my support team. I am looking for people who would promise to pray for me on a weekly basis. I am so aware of the need for prayer warriors interceding on my behalf. I am going into a difficult and challenging situation, and I need people who would faithfully stand in the gap for me.
I also need people who would stand beside me on a monthly basis with a financial commitment, and those who would be able to give a one time offering to help meet the necessary cash budget to get to Nicaragua. Please know that your sacrificial giving is very much appreciated. I know that the Lord will bless you richly, as you have been a blessing in my life.
Why Nicaragua?
This is a question that I have been asked many times since coming home, and even before leaving. I truly feel that God has called me to this country. He is even now preparing me for the new challenges that lie ahead. God is so good and faithful, I know that he will be with me in Nicaragua as he has been with me in Costa Rica.
What will I be doing?
I will continue to work as a nurse with Latin American Child Care. As far as I understand, my responsibilities will include working with short term medical teams to hold clinics ministering to the children in our schools. I would also like to incorporate a teaching program for both teachers and students to teach them about basic hygiene, nutritional needs, first aid, etc. I will be working with the Nicaraguan medical and dental staff to meet the physical needs of the children, at the same time ministering to their spiritual needs as well. I am praying for more specific direction as to how to implement these programs.
Prayer Requests:
- Protection and traveling mercies during my itineration.
- God's heart to be shown to His people through me.
- Unity within the Nicaraguan National Church.
- My financial support to be raised.
- That the Lord would clearly define His plan for the work in Nicaragua.
- For the Lord to use me in His service as I strive to open the eyes of the people of a lost and dying world.
