Kwa'a sini Indian Ministries...May, 1996
Praise the Lord for what is being accomplished for the Kingdom of God on the Navajo Reservations of northern Arizona.
Trinity Indian Assembly
Dennehotso, Arizona
Robert & Martha Tom - Native Pastors
Record breaking attendance! The Crusade averaged 110 for the 5 nights, and most were children. Sorry to say not as many adults attended as in the past, but guess they thought they would leave space for the children. Chairs had to be brought in and set in the aisles! The Tom's, who have pastored there for 19 years , were amazed that a large percentage of the children were new to them. Many came from Peyote and Mormon families. They usually are not even permitted to attend, but almost all were at the altar and made a commitment to Christ. Quiet a number were baptized in the Holy Ghost and others slain in the Spirit. They were so receptive of the power of God. Many were still at the altar even though candy & other prizes were being given. According to the Tom's estimate, there were approximately 50 professions of faith, 25 filled with the Holy Ghost, several rededications and refillings.
The Living Word Assembly
Kayenta, Arizona
Fred & Marie Billee - Native Pastors
Another Crusade with Record Breaking Attendance! Largest crowds the pastors have ever seen there. Over 100 in attendance 3 of the 4 services. More Peyote and Mormon religion children.....and parents. Fred & Marie both work as Teacher's Aides in the Kayenta School which has become almost militant in teaching traditional Indian Religion. Quiet hostile to Christianity. As in most churches, there had been flyers posted and other publicity, but we were all amazed at the number of visitors. Praise The Lord! Response at the altar is exceptional in Kayenta. Some of the children have even suggested that we forget the puppets, lesson and everything else.... just go directly to the Altar Service. These are not 5 or 10 minute altar services, but many times lasting for an hour.
Navajo Trails Assembly
Cameron, Arizona
Gary & Gloria Smith - Native Pastors
AGAIN! Record breaking attendance of Non-Churchgoers
This is what it is all about.....Evangelism.....Winning the Lost
During our Crusade attendance exceeded 100 on two of the four nights. This in a church that averages approximately 20-25. A large percentage of those attending were from non-Christian homes, many from Peyote background. Response at the altars was overwhelming. Every child was in the altar almost every night.
PRAISE THE LORD!
Of course, only eternity will tell how many actually are saved and follow through and really serve God. Even though children from Peyote homes may not be allowed to attend regular services, the seed of the Word of God has been planted. We believe that it will bear fruit in years to come.
Praise Reports
Fuel pumps in both gas tanks on our truck went out, one of them as we were entering Flagstaff, AZ.! Why are we praising the Lord about that?
They were still under warranty and it didn't cost us a cent to have them replaced!
Jan's left knee is immobilized in a brace. Praise the Lord!
I (Jan) have a torn ligament and not having insurance I cannot have the necessary surgery to fix it. It was injured last June, and last week I was able to go to a Doctor who put it in a brace. Finally.....the excruciating pain has been relieved and I can now function more normally even though my mobility is quiet restricted.
On our way to Dennehotso, AZ the tread blew off one of the tires on our trailer. Praise The Lord!
It was under warranty and replaced at no cost to us even though we had to travel over a hundred miles to the nearest Goodyear tire dealer.
Our Sound System Died!
Our Peavey XR600B system that has been in use 6 services a week for the nearly 7 years we have been in this ministry just "played out." (Jan) had used it continuously for 5-6 years previous to that. A sound system is a necessity as most Indian churches have none.
What's the Good News?
We located a source that will take our "dead" system as a down payment on a smaller, but adequate system. Valley Christian Center in Santee, CA has already donated $100 to help us with the cost. We need $470 more by May 22 to be able to purchase it before we go to our next Crusade in a church that has no sound system.
